excerpt from the book forward:In March 1980 a group of people interested in the preservation of Logan County history met at the Logan County Museum in Paris to discuss possibilities for organizing a historical society in Logan County. Dr John FMoreexcerpt from the book forward:In March 1980 a group of people interested in the preservation of Logan County history met at the Logan County Museum in Paris to discuss possibilities for organizing a historical society in Logan County. Dr John F Ferguson, Director of the Arkansas History Commission, was invited to advise the group on the procedures and pitfalls involved in organizing a county historical society. This meeting resulted int he formal establishment of the Logan County Historical Society....The collection and preservation of records and artifacts pertaining to the history of Logan County was established as the main function of the Society. It was decided that all written records of the Society would be deposited in the Booneville Library and all artifacts would be placed int he Logan County Museum. By depositing materials in these institutions, the Society could make them available to the public.-- end excerptThe Society sent out requests for stories of families of Logan County. Hundreds of stories were submitted. This book is the result of two years concentrated work to prepare the materials received, for book printing.
